More and more people are becoming more concerned with beauty, fitness and well being. So, they need places like spas and salons to give them service. People from all walks of life enjoy being pampered, so there is a variety of beauty shops and spas that cater to different income levels, gender and age.Why would anyone nowadays open a business such as a health and beauty spa??/?
with all the health benefit hype (thanks to young hollywood stars) and stressful lifestyles people need a pick me up and more people are going to spas. Spas are a good investment if you can keep up with the trends, everyone wants to look good and feel good. i go to a spa at least 3 times a month be it a manicure and pedicure, a facial or body wrap. it just makes me feel good after i go.
Call me crazy but it could be related to the baby boomers. Right now, the baby boomer generation are about 37-50 years old and so, their biggest demand right now are health and skin products. The Wellness Industry in short.
Americans are obscessed with health and beauty. ANY such business should make MAD LOOT $$$$ !!!

Well the simple answer is yes, it's your body and you can do whatever you want. Some perspective employers however, may not think it is professional and they do not have to hire you. Your clients may also not like this. Think about whether or not it will affect your job and then make the decision of whether or not to get one.

The only thing I know is to go to spa's that aren't run by foreign people. They aren't very clean, just make sure it's an American spa. Sorry, that's all I have.

I want to open one of these and I can never get good answers! I have a few questions!! 1. Would I have to be a stylist to open a salon? 2. What do you want to see in a salon? 3. Also, you should know the requirements to maintain a stylist license to make sure your employees are compliant with state rules.
2) I co-own a salon with my daughter(I am not a styist, she is) and we have a pedicure chair, manicure station, 3 wash stations and 6 styling stations. We offer facial waxing as well.
3) Not necessarily, we have parents bringing in their kids all the time. But some kids are scared to death to have their hair cut, so the kids only salon make them kid friendly.
4) I would like to have an ESTHETICIAN
5) Bring in a partner that has existing clientele. They will be less likely to leave. Join the local chamber of commerce and get involved with your community. Sponsor events such as bridal shows. Customer service is key, make sure your stylists are well-trained and give your customers special attention not just while in the chair. People like coming to their stylists because they can confide in them, they become friends in addition to giving them great service.
Buy a good salon software program(Salon Iris is a good one) Make sure you ask the right questions while interviewing. A good one to ask ';where do you see yourself in 5 years';. If they respond, I want to own my own salon, give them a pass. If they respond, I only want to do this part time, give them a pass. It is imperative you find stylists who are passionate about their craft.(we are learning this the hard way!). It is best to hire stylists right out of school when they are eager to learn and please. Going to Esthetician school (part of beauty school) in October. Supposed to visit spas/salons and introduce?
I'm going to a beauty school in October, and my admissions director wants me to go to some salons/spas and introduce myself and ask about their business, and tell them when I'll be licensed and available. Is this a common thing? What do i say when I go to these future potential employers? Should I just wait until I am licensed, or is opening up communication before then idea?

It is normal and ok to go into a spa and ask to speak to the director or other esthetician. It allows you to network, gets you some help from seasoned workers, and shows you what it's like in the ';real world'; outside of your school.

1) Exfoilate using brown sugar-it smells delicious!!
2) Make a facial by mashing a banana and adding honey
3) Make a hair mask with blended cucumber and egg for shine
4) Take a ripe avacado and work it into hair before washing for smooth/ silkiness
5) Another good facial is plain yogurt blended with mango and papaya

1 1/2 cup raw clover honey
1 heaping teaspoon spirulina
Keep in glass flip top jar.
Take one generous fingerful, rub between hands, then run a little water over hands and rub on face thoroughly.
Rinse off VERY THOROUGHLY or any left will cause breakouts.
An herbal facial steam (makes 1 treatment)
1/4 cup (50ml) of fruit juice.
1/4 cup (50ml) of herbal infusion tea.
1 packet of unflavored gelatin.
Pour the liquids into an oven proof glass container. Add the gelatin, and stir to dissolve completely.
Gently heat the mixture in a double boiler for 1 minute, while stirring constantly.
Use after mixture cools
Spread a small layer over your face and let dry.
Peel it off and rinse with cool water and pat until dry.

First you can't ever again use ';made in china garbage'; ONLY GOOD FRENCH PRODUCTS. you don't have to spend a lot of money on that either. The company Yves Rocher is amazing. They have great products, amazing perfumes under 20 bucks. the main thing THEIR STUFF WORKS. Oh and you can show of your salong by saying we only use good french products, its true, and its cheaper than much of the things u get now.

If my husband asked for that then he probably needs it and I would sign him up to all that can give him a very relaxing day. My husband and I have gotten massages at the same day and location, one after the other and it was very relaxing for both of us. If he wanted to spend the day at the spa, I'd sign him up %26amp; I'd make sure he got the full treatment. He'd get a full body wax, facial, eyebrows shaped, french manicure %26amp; pedicure, plus he'd get a full makeover, hair extensions %26amp; a pair of realistic breastforms glued to his chest, he'd walk in my husband %26amp; walk out my girlfriend. And after he's finished his spa treatment, I'd show him his new clothes, then take him shopping %26amp; let him experience the rest of the day %26amp; evening as a girl %26amp; I'd keep him that way for the weekend too.

But if he was ultra stressed out and exhausted, then i would just send him by himself so that he could get some time by himself to unwind.

A plain baking soda and water mask is by far the best you can do for acne prone skin. Mix a water and baking soda in a cup until the consistancy of a thinner paste. Pat on face (do not rub) and let sit till it hardens then rinse off. This has done miracles for my sensitive acne prone skin!! Plus it's all natural! Sometimes I add a few drops of tea tree oil too. Once or twice a week is plenty for this treatment.

You can go to the dollar store and find manicure/pedicure tools and you know that when you get to the spa you will not have to worry about germs or anything. Also, make sure that you relax!! Try not to do work or anything stressful beforehand....you don't want to have any worries! Have fun!

Is it possible to get hiv in a beauty salon/spa?
I recently went to get a wax in a salon. The woman used tweezers to pull some hairs from the area that wasn't clear after waxing and made me bleed in a few places. About 3 weeks later I felt really exhausted for 2 days, as if I was really sick but had no fever or any other signs. I know the chances are pretty small but I am worried sick now. I am always very careful with that stuff but once I start worrying I can't get myself to stop. I know I have to wait at leats 3 months to get tested but I feel like it is such a long time. Do you think its likely to get HIV in this way?Is it possible to get hiv in a beauty salon/spa?
it is deffinitely not likely to get HIV that way. the general rule is, if the blood is dry, it is no longer infectious--HIV does not tolerate exposure to air. so if those tweezers had wet blood from the previous use, and that blood was infected with HIV, and in a relatively high viral count, and that blood managed to touch your ';wounds'; from the hair being pulled out. . .i think you get the point. it is extremely unlikely for everything neccessary to have happened. yes, mild cold or flu like symptoms a few weeks after exposure does happen (when the body first starts to try and fight the virus), but it is just extremely unlikely that you were exposed this way, it probably was just a cold. go ahead and get tested in a few months though, it will make you feel much better.Is it possible to get hiv in a beauty salon/spa?
Yeah sure if she happened to dip her tweezers in a bucket of someones blood infected with HIV, then cut you open and dipped the tweezers into your cut.

This is a very serious problem...Staph or MRSA bacteria can live for weeks just sitting on a chair or a tool... and the MRSA is very deadly if not treated.

How to make a Party Hall into a Spa/Beauty Salon (12 year old Party)?
Hopefuly I will be able to rent a hall for my boyfriends neice's B-day party that I am planning. At the beging of the party her Girl Friends from school are going to come over and get their nails done, hair, makeup, made put on face masks etc.. but I wasnt sure how I could set it up to look cute and be functional. I wanted to have somekind of comfy chairs to use but the ones in the Hall are metal and not comfy at all I though about maybe putting pillows on them or something. I was going to set up a table that had all the nail polish on it and makeup and a sign in sheet like a real beauty salon. Have some face towels and some bowels to dip their feet and hands into but I am not sure how to make it all come toghther and what kind of bowels to use. I know there are lots of royalty free websites, istockphotos, fotosearch, matton, interforti, inmagine etc etc, but they all require payment of some form or other. I have found a couple of websites where no payment is required but they do not have SPA/BEAUTY images.

i want to do my nails, get a facial, and other stuff.

For The Face:
ALMOND FACIAL MILK
The herbal waters are antiseptic and toning. Grapefruit seed extract is available in health food stores, and is included in the recipe as a preservative.
*
1/2 cup rose, lavender, or distilled water
*
1 teaspoon pure vegetable glycerin
*
1/4 to 1 teaspoon cold pressed organic almond oil
*
12 drops grapefruit seed extract
Make the rose or lavender water by placing a small handful of dried organic rose petals or lavender in a pint mason jar and adding boiling water to cover. Let steep overnight, then thoroughly strain. Combine the remaining ingredients in a glass jar and shake to blend. Dab some on your fingers or a cotton ball and massage into your skin. Rinse with warm water. Keep stored in the refrigerator for no more than a month or so. Discard at the first sign of mold.
For The Body:
DRY SKIN CREME
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup sesame seed oil
2 teaspoons vitamin E oil
2 tablespoons grated beeswax
3 drops essential oil of grapefruit
2 drops of aroma oil (optional, your choice)
a pinch of borax
Blend the vitamin E oil, beeswax and sesame oil. Heat on low until melted. Combine the water, oils and borax. Heat for a few minutes (until warm) but do not boil. Combine the water mixture with the beeswax mixture. Mix well (at least 2 minutes). For a fluffier cream, use an electric mixer or a blender. Pour the cream into a clean container after it has cooled completely.
((The Best Eco-Friendly Pore Cleanser! I have used it and it really works!))

This recipe makes a pore cleaning ';strip'; which works just like those sold in popular drugstores.
1 T Knox unflavored gelatin
1-1/2 T milk
Mix two ingredients and microwave for 10 seconds to slightly warm. Using a clean cosmetic brush, apply to nose and chin area. Avoid delicate eye area. Rinse brush immediately. Allow mixture on nose and chin to dry for 10-15 minutes. Mixture will dry quite stiff and form a ';stiff film.'; Peel off the film and stare at all the little porcupine quills that used to be in your nose pores (one of the chief entertainment factors with B'Strips!).

I just opened up a beauty spa, called ';Julie's Hair and Nail Spa';. Now, I want to make a website for it, and my son has the entire adobe cs4 suite on his lap, and we want to make it so that it looks sort of like this website.

~ then those can be place into flash,

~ if you were to use video clips, then premier and after effects can be used, sound booth will be useful for background sounds,
~you can look at fire works as well for other effects to add or mix,
with the software listed, you could design templates or layouts for other sites as well,

If you buy it, you would need a flash editor. Macromedia Flash 8 is what i use. It's a simple process to remove the logo.
You could also ask the company if they will edit it for you.

There is a 'customize this template' option. Try using that too...
also, it looks like you may not need the editor, but I have never bought a flash template.
you can use a template you buy it and alter it in flash. The templates usually came with the instructions. Usually not always. To do something like that from scratch you have to learn how to use flash and programing in flash. Write an email to see if the templates came with an instructions for people that are not use to flash. Usually this templates are for professionals or the ones that use flash to resell it.
ask because there's templates out there that can be very frustrating if you don't know the program.

Breakfast! You need a spa breakfast. Have lots of fresh fruit, cut them and wash them the night before. You can make a smoothie, eat your fruit with toast or have yogurt.
While you eat, draw a bath. You need some bubbly soaps (maybe go to lush and get a bath bomb). A mint soap would be ideal. Set up some candles and just relax. Spend half an hour or more reading, meditating or relaxing.
After you're nice and clean dry off and use your favorite body lotion so you smell nice and feel soft. You can start by giving yourself a pedicure! If you have a good minty lotion, you could give yourself a foot massage. You could also use olive oil to give yourself a foot massage (just put on some fluffy socks because your feet might be slippery immediately after). A good massage idea is to put a golf ball or tennis ball on the floor and roll it under your feet. Now that your feet feel refreshed, you can do up the toenail polish.
For your hands, you can dip them in a dish of warm water to make them softer (put a drop of lemon juice in the water). Then do your fingernails and paint them.
Doing your feet and hands can be exhausting, so you probably want a siesta. Light some candles and read some more. If you have soothing music, put on that (like the sounds of waves crashing...one of those ambient cds). You could make yourself a mojito or hot chocolate. If you like icecream, have some icecream for lunch. If its sunny where you live, sit outside.
To do your face, boil some hot water, add a couple drops of lemon and steam your face. You can soak a face cloth and hold it over your face. This will open up your pores. Then you can do up your eyebrows. Put moisturizer on your face as well.

Well its my thirteenth birthday in a few months and i wanna be prepared but im stuck on 2 ideas a scavenger hunt or beaty spa. For the scavenger hunt wed go to the mall and have tasks like get a picture of you with the buildabear staff or a picture of you all in pink. For the beauty spa id have foot spa's and face masks and scented candles and turn a room into a spa.
Please say what one you'd rather go to.
And post ideas for the one you choose like if you chose scavenger put ideas for the list but if you chose beauty spa post things i could buy or do.

Also look around for the stands with free face mask samples. When you get home with the girls turn your room into a spa and use all your new products from the mall scavenger hunt. You may want to make the party a sleepover and do the spa part at night and before that the scavenger hunt during the day.
I'd prefer to do a scavenger hunt.
1. Take a picture with the funniest, biggest hat you can find
2. Take a picture with the ugliest shoes you can find
3. Take a picture of yourself dressed like a movie star
Plus, it would be cheaper than buying everyone a spa package or a manicure...
You could do either. Personally I would like the spa. Next year you could do the scavenger hunt or maybe you could do the hunt at the mall and then come home and do at home foot spa or something.

I Live In Australia, I live in a small town with no tafe the closest is an hour away (i have an 8 month old and don't plan on putting her in daycare until shes at least 12 months). (Plus theres no daycare in this town!!) I Want to go into some sort of Day Spa Job like thingy, Im great at massages and wouldn't mind becoming a masseuse.
Im also into hairdressing, And beauty. My first Course i took was a beautician coursed but only got my 1st certificate because i left that town.

Natural Beauty/Spa recipes?
Does anyone have any easy spa beauty recipes for things like: bath soak, foot soak, facial mask, etc. that can be made from kitchen supplies and herb/flower plants (for example, I have a mint plant on the balcony and lemon juice in the fridge but I don't want to limit it to those as I will be adding more herbs and have other supplies than lemon juice).

I would go to Ella Rouge - they are a chain with many stores around Sydney, but there is one under Myer near the food court. They do a great job - I have been going there for years getting eyebrows, facials, waxing, tinting and massages.
They are always clean and very professional - also because they are a chain I think they care more about their reputation. The prices are reasonable - they do a good job so it's worth the money.
Another one is Venustus on Oxford Street. This is the salon Nicole Kidman goes to when she is in Sydney. I personally think it is over priced but they do a good job. Obviously if it's good enough for Nicole, it must be good. But I think Ella Rouge do just as good a job.Beauty spa in Sydney CBD?

Well, it depends if the spa is downtown New York City or just one in town. Personally, I've been given day spa packages and they were outstanding. It's just a bit of pampering. At home beauty spa day?
I am having two friends over next weekend for a beauty day to cheer one of them up. :] And i want to create a spa in my room. haha. any ideas on beauty products and healthy food to eat? (i am on a low sugar vegetarian no soda diet so its sometimes hard to find snack foods.) does anyone have any fruit face masks recipes? anything helps! :[]At home beauty spa day?
spas always have cucumber stuff. and lots of soaps and lotion. make sure you have robes available in case everyone doesn't want to be naked between spa treatments... and hire a massage therapist, or take turns giving everyone massages. sounds like fun! :)

SIMS Open for Business- Beauty Salon and Spa?
I open a salon and spa in the game and I was under the impression that I would be doing sims' hair and makeup etc and making them over. However, there doesn't seem to be an option for this!?? They just go straight out to the spas. And when I try to click on the mirrors and benches nothing comes up... Is it because I got rid of the old ratty looking brown barber shop chairs that were in there originally? Are these chairs required to makeover the customers?

yeah sadly you do neet to use the ratty old barber chairs, you need to get your sim to be a stylist by click the barber chair and then click on a chair then select ';offer makeover to sim'; thens select the sims name and then they will come over and sit in the chair, your sim wil then performa make over, during the make over it will either have another screen pop up where you can change the customer sims hair and makup
but sometimes if your hairdresser sim is only a newbie, they will sometimes stuff the make over up and put make up like a clown all over the customer sims face, if this happens you just have to keep trying to offer a makeover ot that sim until you get the window with the apperance changer like the hair and makeup

Just wear a nice somewhat dressy outfit. Once you start working at the spa or salon, you will have to dress up everyday, so wear something that you feel you would wear to work. This will show the employer what to expect from you if they were to hire you. As long as you look nice, neat, and cleaned up they should hire you, as long as you fit the job requirements.
And something to do to try and get the job is just to be yourself. Be very friendly and smile a lot. Chat with the interviewer, but dont be too chatty.

And if you're going to wear heels, I would stick with a wedge shoe- if your heels are too thin or high, you'll end up looking like a hooker!

Facial Mask:
This at-home mask can be simply made in under a minute.
路 Mix 1-2 tbsp. of clay powder (available at health food stores) with spring water until paste is smooth
路 Apply with fingertips or spatula all over the face except the eye areas
路 Leave for 15 minutes and rinse off with warm water
Ingredients may vary according to skin type:
路 For dry skin: Add 1 tbsp. of olive oil
路 For normal skin: Add 1 tbsp. of plain yogurt
路 For oily skin: Add 2 tbsp. of lemon juice
Sea Salt Foot %26amp; Body Bath:
This luxurious, soothing bath can be used as a foot soak or as an all over bath for the body 鈥?restoring the feet and body to a calm and balanced state. Ready in under a minute, it is suitable for all skin types.
Foot Soak:
路 Mix 1/4 cup of sea salt to a bowl or pedicure style basin filled with hot water

Has anyone purchased any gift set yet? You know when you first walk in and near where the hair care section is and then there's a long table like and it's filled with Spa Gift Baskets in every size. I think there's a whole aisle of them also. But I wanted to know if anyone has purchased one yet? And if so, which one do you think is perfect and all. SIMS Open for Business- Beauty Salon and Spa?
I open a salon and spa in the game and I was under the impression that I would be doing sims' hair and makeup etc and making them over. However, there doesn't seem to be an option for this!?? They just go straight out to the spas. And when I try to click on the mirrors and benches nothing comes up... Is it because I got rid of the old ratty looking brown barber shop chairs that were in there originally? Are these chairs required to makeover the customers?

yeah sadly you do neet to use the ratty old barber chairs, you need to get your sim to be a stylist by click the barber chair and then click on a chair then select ';offer makeover to sim'; thens select the sims name and then they will come over and sit in the chair, your sim wil then performa make over, during the make over it will either have another screen pop up where you can change the customer sims hair and makup
but sometimes if your hairdresser sim is only a newbie, they will sometimes stuff the make over up and put make up like a clown all over the customer sims face, if this happens you just have to keep trying to offer a makeover ot that sim until you get the window with the apperance changer like the hair and makeup

Sometimes if you take an object away they will go to do other things like go get their hair or makeup done. Also the Sims seem to love to use the spa.

Just wear a nice somewhat dressy outfit. Once you start working at the spa or salon, you will have to dress up everyday, so wear something that you feel you would wear to work. This will show the employer what to expect from you if they were to hire you. As long as you look nice, neat, and cleaned up they should hire you, as long as you fit the job requirements.
And something to do to try and get the job is just to be yourself. Be very friendly and smile a lot. Chat with the interviewer, but dont be too chatty.

As far as the interview goes, try emphasize your eagerness to help and ability to learn quickly. Try to highlight various abilities or skills you've acquired that will help you in filling the position:
-Courteous customer service over the phone and in person
-Multitasking

Don't over-do it- it should be kind of business casual... minimal, but classy. The general dress code for a spa is black.
I would probably wear a pair of black skinny pants with a slouch at the bottom and a pair of wedge shoes, with a cute collared shirt. The pants could also be maybe a pair of black floods or a pair of capri's maybe with a flat shoe. I wouldn't wear a pair of pants that go above the knee or a skirt or dress. And if you're going to wear heels, I would stick with a wedge shoe- if your heels are too thin or high, you'll end up looking like a hooker!

As for the outfit, you could wear something simple and casual, but still professional. Such as, a collared shirt and a skirt with nice open-toed high heels. Or a nice and cute blouse with jeans or nice pants with flip flops.
id wear formal pants and a short sleeve white shirt for any interview.
make sure your hair and makeup looks amazing, make sure u get your eyebrow and lip waxed a couple of days before and paint ur fingernails (and toenails if showing). As this shows you are interested in fashion and beauty, i know the first thing my boss does is look at toenails if they are showing.
